Serving our community, body and soul
Preventing crisis & helping people become more resilient across the Island since 2023
A warm welcome, a hot meal, and a helping hand.
Here at The Church of the Double Portion, we are deeply passionate about serving people not
only spiritually but physically. We believe that everyone deserves access to nutritious food
and a warm, supportive environment.
To make this possible, we run three main food projects alongside our close support of The Pyle Street
Pantry. These initiatives are designed to tackle food poverty, reduce environmental waste, and create
a welcoming space where all are welcome without judgement.

The Free Food Project
We rescue high-quality surplus food that supermarkets would otherwise throw away. Thanks to daily collections by Faith Strickland from the Real Junk Food Project, this food is placed in our foyer stand and free food fridge for anyone to take, or cooked fresh for our community clubs.

The Heat Hub
Every Thursday evening, we host a free, healthy "Ready Steady Cook" style hot meal for over 30 guests. We cater to all dietary needs (with prior notice) and expand this to a daily meal service over the Christmas break, proudly serving 375 meals during Christmas week alone.

The Kindness Cupboard
Born out of lockdown, this discreet cupboard offers free groceries, personal care products, and baby items without judgement. This vital lifeline is kept stocked entirely through generous donations from partners like Utilita, Morrisons, M&S, Co-op East Cowes, and Newport Football Club.
Support our life-changing work
Our food projects rely entirely on the generosity of our community and local businesses. Without your support, these vital initiatives could not exist.
